While many college programs host an annual “Midnight Madness” preseason scrimmage, Ohio State hadn’t held such an event since 2016. It was my suggestion that we revive an event called “Buckeyes On The Blacktop” prior to the 2022-23 season due to the fact that our team had so many newcomers. Our marketing team signed off on the idea and I assisted in the event planning while providing all of the branding elements and signage to transform a run-of-the-mill outdoor court on campus into an outdoor streetball venue where we hosted a dunk contest, three point shootout, and team scrimmage. The event was viewed as a major success.
